Union Carnegie Public Library was built in 1912 through the endeavors of the Women's Club of Union and the generosity of Andrew Carnegie. The Women's Club sold the property to the City of Union for $1.00 on November 28, 1911 for the sole purpose of providing a public library. The fact that Union's library has the distinction of being one of the smallest Carnegie Libraries ever built does not impact the spirit of service! Internet access is available free to the public through a grant from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. The library offers interlibrary loan services, a nice collection of large print books, audio books, videos, juvenile and adult literature and the daily Oregonian newspaper. Many items are available through generous gifts and donations from the community.
